The Ninja Therapist Masterclass with Dr. Assael Romanelli
(Advanced improvisational skills for therapists)
The Ninja Therapist is the bold therapist who is willing to utilize their whole self, and everything that arises in the here-and-now clinical encounter, in order to maximize learning, growth, play, and change.
Therapy is an improvised collaborative artform.
The clinician must remain open, curious, flexible, and playful as the session unfolds, moment by moment.
Research shows that the most important component of therapy that ensures a positive clinical outcome is the relationship with the therapist.
Yes, the relationship with YOU will determine the outcome of therapy.
Are you bringing your full self to the clinical encounter?

26.04. + 27.04.2025 | The Art of Love and Hate in Therapy A Clinical Improvisation Workshop for Therapists mit Dr. Assael Romanelli und Galit Romanelli | |
mit Dr. Assael Romanelli und Galit Romanelli in englischer Sprache für Therapeut*innen mit Improerfahrung (Teilnahme an mindestens einem Wochenendkurs) Dauer: 26.04. + 27.04.2025 Kurszeiten: 11:00 -17:00 Kursgebühr: 325,- Frühbucher (bis 28.02.) danach: 345,- Euro Ort: ETI, Rungestraße 20, 10179 Berlin Therapy is a crucible - An emotional playground - where we grow, heal, love, struggle, hate and connect. As therapists, our role is to guide our clients out of their comfort zone and into their growth zone, where real transformation happens. But growth requires balance. It’s not just about safety and connection—it’s also about adventure and conflict. In this two-day workshop, we will explore the delicate art of navigating between two essential therapeutic forces: • Intimacy, love and Connection: Building trust, fostering rapport, and repairing relationships. • Conflict, hate and Challenge: Introducing tension, blocking unhelpful patterns, and stretching clients toward growth. Using concepts, skills, and techniques from improv, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), non-verbal communication, embodiment and couples therapy, this workshop will equip you to block exits, raise the heat, stay present, and remain effective even in the most intense therapeutic moments. What You’ll Learn • How to co-direct client’s storytelling in a generative, challenging way. • Techniques and pathways to mature intimacy. • How to navigate and leverage normative aggression and conflict. • The art of clinical rupture and repair in relationships. • Strategies to address clients’ resistance and blocking behaviors. • In short, how to be a clinical artist of love and hate. You’ll leave with an interdisciplinary toolbox of skills, practical techniques, and a deeper confidence to embrace both love and conflict in the therapy room. To support your continued learning, you’ll also receive access to curated videos and articles. Workshop Structure Day 1: The Art of Clinical Intimacy Explore core skills to create meaningful, collaborative, and exciting therapeutic encounters. Day 2: The Art of Clinical Conflict Learn and practice techniques to challenge, block, and stretch clients in productive, creative ways. This experiential workshop will combine theory with hands-on practice in a supportive peer group. Time will also be dedicated time to Q&A and peer supervision to deepen your learning. Who Should Attend? This workshop is designed for therapists who have either completed Ninja Training Level 1 or have experience with improvisation. No prior expertise in clinical improvisation is required—just a willingness to learn, play, and grow. Why Should YOU Come? Because therapy is art, not science - and you are a clinical artist. Because you want to feel free to be human in the clinical encounter. Because therapy, like any relationship, is full of ruptures and repairs. Because love and hate are two sides of the same coin – and both are crucial for healthy relationships. Because you can only help your clients achieve the level of intimacy and tension that you can achieve. Because this workshop will help you create authentic, differentiated relationships - so that your clients can replicate them without you.
